David Harrington Watt

David Watt is serving as an advisor and consultant to the project, meeting annually with the other scholars to help them reflect on their work.

Since receiving his doctorate in American civilization from Harvard University in 1987, David Harrington Watt has taught at Temple University, where he is now associate professor. Rutgers University Press published his A Transforming Faith: An Exploration of Twentieth-Century American Evangelicalism in 1991. He has also published articles and reviews on topics as diverse as revivalism, church and state, and the independent sector, and spoken to groups of historians and sociologists. He teaches on cultural history as well as the history of American religion. His Bible-Carrying Christians, Domination, and the Arts of Resistance is under contract to Oxford University Press.
