R. Scott Appleby

R. Scott Appleby is Associate Professor of History at the University of Notre Dame, where he directs the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism. After receiving a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, he served as co-director of the Fundamentalism Project, an international public policy study conducted by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was co-editor for its five publications, including the aware-winning Fundamentalisms Observed (1991). In addition he has published Church and Age Unite! The Modernist Impulse in American Catholicism (1992), and is working on a project examing the American historical experience of "Educating and Forming People in the Christian Faith."
