THE
MATERIAL
HISTORY OF AMERICAN
RELIGION
PROJECT

Supported by the Lilly
Endowment, Inc.

Participants

The Project, based at Columbia Theological Seminary and supported by the Lilly Endowment, consists of three groups.  Eight scholars, historians of American religion, are writing monographs on topics in the material and economic history of American religion.  Several senior scholars in the field will advise and critique their work.  A group of religions leaders, representative of the diversity of American religious institutions, will help to make the Project's investigations responsive to the needs of their communities.
